Demand action against culprits who brutally attacked him

The relatives of Duraimurugan (24), a farmer of Erikkodi Ramanur in Chinnakkammiyampattu village in Jolarpet police station limits blocked the Vellore-Tirupattur Road at the Ramanur junction on Thursday morning demanding action against the culprits involved in his murder.

Previous enmity was believed to the cause of murder.

According to the police, Duraimurugan was brutally attacked by a six-member gang when he had come for a festival in the Mariamman Temple in Veluranvattam in Periyakammiyampattu on May 16.

The culprits pushed him under a tree near the railway track in the vicinity of the spot. Duraimurugan’s relatives who were searching for him found him battling for life with serious injuries and admitted him in the Government Hospital, Tirupattur.

He was later referred to the Government Hospital in Salem where he succumbed to injuries on Wednesday night.

On hearing of his death, the relatives blocked the road on Thursday morning demanding the arrest of the culprits.

They dispersed after Tirupattur DSP Nagarajan and other police officers went to the spot and pacified them.
