CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has dismissed three review petitions filed by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

While two pertained to the Commission's orders on the price for procurement of power by the Board from non-conventional energy sources-based generating plants and the purchase price of energy from captive generating plants and co-generation plants based on fossil fuel, the third related to granting relief to Nethaji Apparel Park at Tirupur, Palladam Hi-Tech Weaving Park at Palladam and the Tirupur Export Knitwear Industrial Complex.

Interim licence

The Commission dismissed a petition filed by Global Energy Limited, which sought an interim licence for trading in electricity in Tami Nadu, pending grant of permanent licence. The Commission felt that grant of interim licence would amount to circumventing the mandatory provisions of Section 15 (procedure for grant of licence) of the Electricity Act, 2003, according to an official release.
