Five varieties of seeds used to create six by six metre seed mosaic
Blood donation has various campaigns espousing its cause. City school Vasavi Vidyalaya has joined the bandwagon, albeit with a record-breaking attempt on Wednesday.
The Guinness World Record attempt titled, ‘Give blood, give life', witnessed the creation of a six by six metre seed mosaic using five varieties of seeds – corn, ragi, dried channa, green gram, and yanai kundumani. According to T.Pavai, principal of the school, a team of 15 members, including 10 students and five teachers created the mosaic in less than three hours. The school has applied for the Guinness certificate.
Parents and visitors evinced interest in donating blood at the programme said the principal. The school was deliberating on conducting regular blood donation camps, she added.
Creating records is not new for the school that set two Guinness Records in 2010. In January 2010, the school set a record for the longest cartoon strip with an ethical message measuring 608 metres. In March of the same year, the largest footprint painting was created with three generations – students, parents, and grandparents. The footprinting feat was aimed at creating awareness on prevention of AIDS.
All three Guinness attempts had a social message at their core. Ms. Pavai said the school was actively engaging its students in spreading awareness on social issues while setting records.
