The Tiruchi District Men's Welfare and Protection Association has urged the Central government to re-consider the proposed hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.

A resolution adapted to this effect at its meeting held here on Tuesday said the hike would hit the lower and middle income group hard.

Referring to the rise in the road accidents on the National Highways, another resolution urged the police department to initiate strict action against the drivers and the vehicle proprietors.

Men's rights

The meeting also adopted a resolution pleading for setting up an exclusive commission to protect men's rights on a par with the one for women.

M. Muthusamy, president of the Association, presided over the meeting.
