‘Read to build a bright career'

Competitions for school and college students, special lectures, and distribution of awards to outstanding schools, marked the library movement awareness programme held here recently.

The programme was organised by the Readers Circle of the Thuraiyur branch library and Thuraiyur block Educational Trust. R.Muthukrishnan, former chief education officer, gave away awards to about 40 schools, which produced top-rankers and maximum pass percentage in the public examinations.

During a special session, A.P.Sivakumar, district library officer, delivered a lecture on ‘reading is a joy'. He explained how cultivating reading habit enable youth to build a bright career, and overcome the challenges of life.

P.V.Devaraj, president, Tiruchi District Central Library Readers Circle and P.Gowthaman, engineer, TANGEDCO, spoke. Competitions were conducted and prizes distributed .
