Unable to bear the problems created by rats, residents of Ambalavana Swamy Kovil Street at Guhai here locked a PDS outlet (AD051) functioning from a private building.

They said that it should be relocated immediately.

When the salesman opened the shop at about 9.30 a.m., residents led by the building owner’s son Niyamath (45) locked the outlet and staged a protest.

They said that rats from the outlet entered the houses and spoiled the food items. They were damaging cloths too for the last six months.

Though the shop was asked to be relocated, nothing had been done so far, they said.

After the police intervened, the shop was allowed to function.
