TIRUCHI: The rally organised by New Life, a NGO, on Thursday was for a unique cause. It was aimed at creating awareness among people of traditional games.
More than 200 members of the organisation, New Life's self-help groups, youth clubs and schoolstudents participated.
It was flagged off by the New Life project advisor, G. Pichaimuthu, from the Gandhi Market entrance.
The rally went through Big Bazaar Street, N.S.B. Road, Nandhi Kovil Street, Chinthamani Bazaar and culminated at the Anna Statue near Chatiram bus stand.
The participants carried placards, which stressed on the importance of doing exercises to maintain good health.
"Most of the present day youth are unaware of traditional games as they are more into modern sports. ]
This rally is an effort to bring such games under the limelight and also on how they help in developing one's concentration power," says F.B. Vanaja, New Life secretary.
The former member of Rajya Sabha, N. Siva, spoke on the importance of traditional games.
The President and Managing Director of New Life, Peter Rex Charlie was also present.
