To mark International Day against Drug Abuse
School students in large numbers participated in an anti-drug abuse awareness rally held here on Wednesday.
As part of observing International Day against Drug Abuse on June 26, a rally organised by Salem City Police in association with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and NSS students, was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) A.G. Babu from Anna Statue to Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School in Kottai.
Students carried placards with messages about the ill-affects of taking drugs and the stringent punishment for possessing drugs or consuming banned drugs.
They also raised slogans that drug consumption would not only affect the health of the individual but would also have adverse effects on the whole family.
A conference was also held at the school, at which officials from Narcotics Control Bureau and other police officials spoke.
