Students of Sri Eshwar College of Engineering took out a rally here on Tuesday to mark World Elders’ Day.

The rally, which began at Red Cross Building, culminated at VOC Park grounds. Organised under the auspices of Sri Eswar Social Welfare Association (SESWA), as many as 500 students took part in the rally.

Collection system

The association maintained a one-rupee a day collection system in which students of the college contributed Re. 1 every day. A portion of this collection – Rs. 25,000 – was used to buy new clothes and fruit baskets for 20 elders of a home. The elders were invited to VOC Park grounds and the students gave away these clothes and baskets after the rally.
