Rain continued for the third day on Monday in Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts.

With samba transplantation going on, the rain is good for both the transplanted crop and the seedlings, agriculture department officials said.

Tazhutazhai in Perambalur district experienced the maximum rainfall of 130 m.m. in the last 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m. on Monday.

The following are the chief amounts of rainfall recorded in Thanjavur district : Kumbakonam: 44 m.m.; Valangaiman: 30.2 m.m.; Papanasam: 24.4 m.m.; Anaikarai: 24 m.m.; Thanjavur: 14.8 m.m.; Thirukattupallai: 12.4 m.m.; and Thiruvaiyaru: 5.2 m.m.

Tiruvarur district: Nannilam: 40.40 m.m.; Kodavasal: 30 m.m.; Needamangalam: 12.30 m.m.; Tiruvarur: 12 m.m.; and Mannargudi: 8 m.m.

Perambalur district: Chettikulam: 19 m.m.; Perambalur town: 16 m.m.; and Padalur 7 m.m.

In Tiruchi district, Thuraiyur experienced the maximum rainfall of 21 m.m. followed by Pullambadi: 12.40 m.m.; Kuppampatti: 11 m.m.; Nandhiyar head: 10 m.m.; Tiruchi junction: 7 m.m.; and Musiri and Lalgudi 5.2 m.m. each.
