Formation of awareness human chain, exhibition on tuberculosis prevention and cure and health education talks marked the observance of World TB day at Divisional Railway Hospital, Ponmalai, on Saturday.

Students in large numbers from the Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School formed the human chain from Armoury Gate, Central Work Shop, Golden Rock, to the Railway Hospital.

Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager; P. Mahesh, Chief Workshop Manager, Central Work Shop, Golden Rock; S.A. Abdul Rahman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager; and R. Soundararajan, Chief Medical Superintendent, Divisional Railway Hospital, participated in the campaign.

Later, addressing a gathering at the hospital, Ms. Rangarajan said that to prevent TB infection, people should follow healthy habits and hygienic practices. It should be nurtured from the childhood. She stressed on the need for a responsible approach from the patients towards the treatment to the TB infection.

Abdul Samad, Deputy Director, TB Control Programme, Mr. Abdul Rahman, Mr. Soundararajan, and Sandhya, Nodal Officer, TB Prevention, Ponmalai Hospital, spoke.
