Railway hospital at Goldenrock to get modern equipment

Continuing Medical Education Programme inaugurated

TIRUCHI: The railway hospitals at Perambur in Chennai and Goldenrock near Tiruchi will get additional infrastructure including buildings, beds, modernised equipment etc., the Chief Medical Director, Southern Railway, G. C. Raju, said.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Dr. Raju said that it has been planned to upgrade the hospital at Perambur into a multi-speciality hospital at a multi-storeyed new building.

Even the architectural building had been prepared. Equipment for video colonoscopy and laparoscopy would be provided.

On the hospital at Goldenrock, he said that it would get several modernised equipment, including the C-Arm imaging system facilitating orthopaedic surgeries, at a total expenditure of about Rs. 70 lakhs.

Dr. Raju said that additional visiting specialists would be posted at the sub-divisions at Erode, Villupuram and Shoranur. A cardiologist, a surgeon and a gynaecologist would be posted at each of these sub-divisions in course of time.

Continuing Medical Education Programme

Earlier, inaugurating the Continuing Medical Education Programme, organised by the Doctors Club of Tiruchi Division, Southern Railway, he appealed to doctors to update their knowledge by keeping abreast of the latest developments and for enhancing their capability and skill in meeting the future challenges.

He also emphasised the importance of `yoga' and `pranayamam' in improving one's mental strength and physical fitness.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Southern Railway, Tiruchi, D. K. Saraf, presided over the function.

The Chief Workshop Manager, Goldenrock, S. Rengarajan and G. Lokanadham, Chief Medical Superintendent, were among those who spoke.
