CHENNAI: Officials of the Bureau of Indian Standards recently conducted a raid on a packaged drinking water unit in New Perungalathur and found that it was misusing the ISI mark. Substantial quantities of spuriously ISI marked materials with BIS license no. (CM/L 6538277) were seized at Skymoon General Trading Private Limited. The water was packed, without a licence, in 20-litre pet jars under brand names ‘Prestige’ and ‘Sun Aqua.’ Packaged water of other manufacturers sold under brand names ‘Kinnni,’ ‘Alpine,’ ‘Rill,’ ‘People One’ and ‘Nila’ were seized. The release said action has been initiated against the offender.
