CHENNAI: All-India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi will undertake a three-day tour of the State from September 8.

He will address party workers, participate in a Scheduled Caste and Tribes community conference, meet young farmers, interact with university students and young entrepreneurs and address a public meeting.

Releasing the tour programme, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu said that Mr. Gandhi would begin the tour from Nagercoil, where he will meet Youth Congress workers. The same day he would visit Tirunelveli and address women workers. In Virudhunagar he would address youth party workers. In Madurai, Mr. Gandhi would interact with students of Madurai-Kamaraj University and address SC and ST conference. On September 9, he would meet party workers and young farmers at Thanjavur, workers at Villupuram and Vellore besides meeting students of the Christian Medical College at Vellore. In the evening he would meet students of Anna University-Chennai and participate in the executive meeting of the party at the Satyamurthi Bhavan here. He planned to meet editors of newspapers the same evening.

On September 10 he would tour Krishnagiri, where he would be present at an inter-collegiate sports meet. The same day he would meet labourers at Salem and address party workers. In the afternoon he would visit Coimbatore, where he would meet youth party workers and address a public meeting. In between, he would meet young entrepreneurs of Coimbatore.

Mr. Gandhi would also review the membership enrolment campaign for the Youth Congress launched in the State recently. Earlier, Mr. Thangkabalu, Congress Legislature Party Leader D. Sudarssanam and party workers offered floral tributes to the portrait of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar on his birth anniversary.
