Portrait of senior advocate unveiled

CHENNAI: Speakers at a public meeting here at the Mylapore Academy on Wednesday to pay homage to senior advocate N.C.Raghavachari described him as a philanthropist and an outstanding lawyer.

They said as a lawyer, he was meticulous in his preparation and his client's interest was paramount for him. He was involved with many institutions.

Unveiling the portrait of Raghavachari, S. Mohan, former Judge of the Supreme Court, paid tributes to the late advocate for his profundity of knowledge, absolute thoroughness and courtesy. He was a great leader of the Bar and cared for the weaker sections of society.

Sarojini Varadappan, chairperson, The Mylapore Academy; B.S. Raghavan, former U.N. Policy Adviser; senior advocates R. Krishnamurthy and T.V. Ramanujam and N. Sugalchand Jain, chairman, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Trust, were among those who paid tributes to Raghavachari. The portrait unveiled on Wednesday would be presented to the Academy and Abhaya Nilayam.

A condolence resolution was moved by Academy secretary C.S. Veeraraghavan.
