The seventh annual day of Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi, was celebrated recently.

The chief guest of the occasion, S. Rajeshwaran, Judge, Madras High Court, urged the students to make judicious use of time and opportunity and to work hard to succeed in life. Stressing the importance of teachers in developing the student's knowledge, he said that moral values are important for coming up in life.

He released a journal `Trends in Kalis research' published by the research committee of the college and a book `Financial accounting' written by Commerce Department faculty M. Anbalagan.

P. Brindha, Dean, Life Sciences, Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College, released a book `Ethnobotany of the Kanis.'

A free `blood grouping' camp was organised by the Bachelor of Business Administration Department of S.F.R. College, Sivakasi, and Rotary Club of Sivakasi for mentally challenged children of C.S.I. School, Satchiyapuram recently. A.M. Ravindran, president of the Rotary club presided.

K. Thamizh Selvi, (III B.Sc Zoology) clinched individual championship, thanks to her brilliant performance, at the annual sport meet held at M.V.M. Government Arts College for Women in Dindigul on Wednesday.

While J. Sajitha Sherin (II M.A. English) and K. Najma Banu (III-B.Sc Maths) bagged first two places in chess tournament, M. Ezhilarasi (III-B.A. English), A. Jennifer Mary (II-B.A. Tamil) and R. Parameshwari (III B.Sc Geography) captured the top three positions in Volleyball matches, K. Kousalya (III B.B.E.) and P. Nirmala (I-B.A.) were adjudged as top two players in kho-kho. The college won the over all championship in team events held among colleges under Mother Teresa University. Superintendent of Police A. Pari inaugurated the sports meet. Ms. Latha Pari distributed prizes to winners. Principal L. Anjana welcomed the gathering.

Seventh annual convocation was held at Rev. Jacob Memorial Christian College recently. Lady Doak College principal Nirmala Jeyaraj delivered the convocation address.

Vickram College of Engineering at Enathi in Sivaganga district conducted a Rotaract Club meeting on its campus recently. Dr. A. Shanmugakani, who was the chief guest, highlighted the need for developing leadership skills to achieve success.

Praveen, coordinator of the meeting, initiated the proceedings.

Syed Hameedha Arts and Science College, Kilakarai, conducted a child health care programme at Madakottan village near Ramanathapuram as part of a 10-day NSS camp organised by the college at the village. Principal Mustafa presided over the function.
