All registered persons should be given jobs at regular intervals, says Collector

SIVAGANGA: The Collector, M.A. Siddique, has directed all panchayat chiefs and officials concerned to ensure the effective implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme.

Reviewing the progress of the scheme in the district here on Friday, he said while some of the panchayats had shown real interest in implementing the programme, the progress was slow in some other panchayats. All panchayat chiefs and staff concerned should devote time to implement it properly.

Mr. Siddique said they should not give room for malpractices in implementing the scheme. All registered persons under the scheme should be given jobs at regular intervals. The best panchayats, which implemented the scheme successfully, would be appreciated.

He said two panchayat clerks were placed under suspension for showing disinterest in implementing the scheme. Similarly, 3 `makkal nala paniyalarkal' were dismissed for the same reason.

Puja Kulkarni, Additional Collector, and others participated.
