To know how valuation has been done: teachers' association

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Graduate Teachers' Association has urged the Directorate of Government Examinations to provide photocopies of answer sheets to Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) students also after the publication of public examination results.

S. Bhaskaran, secretary of the association's Madurai unit, said here on Wednesday that SSLC students also must be able to see their corrected answer papers to know how the valuation had been done. "Now, only Plus Two students are able to see their answer sheets after the results. Why not the same be extended to SSLC also," he posed.

He said teachers too could commit mistakes during valuation and it must be remembered that eight lakh papers were corrected in the State every year for SSLC examinations alone.

If the students got their answer sheets they would stand to benefit when they went for revaluation/re-totalling. He said the association was of the view that SSLC students should not be denied the opportunity as many of them were to join technical courses/polytechnics and they should not suffer for the mistakes of teachers.
