CITU seeks separate welfare boards
Tuticorin: Members of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) took out a rally, here on Tuesday, to press their charter of demands.
They urged the Government to constitute separate welfare boards for different unorganised sectors and asked the authorities concerned to fix minimum pay for the workers like lorry drivers. The agitators said that steps should be taken to regularise the contract labourers working with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
The employees at TASMAC should be made permanent and pay scale of anganwadi workers should be raised.
Ponraj, district president, Rajankam, State vice president, and Rasal, State council member, led the rally, which commenced from the municipal office and culminated at the Beach Road.
