Ensure quality in development work: Director of Rural Development

THENI: Quality should be ensured in the execution of each and every development work.

All works must be completed within the scheduled time to enable beneficiaries to enjoy the benefits of the schemes extended by the State Government, said Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Director for Rural Development.

He was addressing a review meeting on rural development held at the Collectorate here on Thursday.

The State Government has been implementing several schemes for development of villages. Officials must make all efforts to take these schemes to the people as quickly as possible.

Representatives of local bodies could be consulted in eliminating the delay or hurdles, if any, in executing the development works within their areas.

Genuine beneficiaries

The Director was also particular in selecting the genuine beneficiaries for Indira Memorial Housing Scheme and Kacha Houses Scheme. The Collector, Har Sahay Meena, and other officials took part.

Later, Mr. Bedi inspected the development works being taken up under the New Anna Renaissance Scheme at Chinna Ovalapuram and laying of road connecting Erasakkanaickanur and Chinn Ovalapuram, digging of well, deisilting of tank and construction of shelters at a burial ground in neighbouring villages.

He also checked the quality of group houses and cement roads in these areas.
