SALEM: Members of various trade unions resorted to road blockades and demonstrations as a part of their nation-wide protest against price hike of petroleum products and essential commodities, here on Friday.

The police arrested them who came in batches for agitations and later released them.

Traffic hit

The members from CITU, INTUC, AITUC, AICCTU, HMS and BMS unions organised stirs at different places in the city throwing the traffic out of gear at many places. A majority of auto rickshaws also kept off roads. The price hike on petroleum products must be scrapped.
