The Erode District Co-operative Milk Producers Union (Aavin) received a little over 30,000 litres of milk on Thursday as milk producers in the district have intensified their protest. Over 90 per cent of the producers did not supply milk to the Aavin for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The Aavin used to get over 2 lakh litres of milk every day. Milk supply from Aavin remained affected in almost all parts of the district. Aavin officials, however, said that they had increased the supply of milk powder in the district.

The producers said the strike would continue till the government increased the prices of cow's milk and buffalo's milk by Rs.5 and Rs.8 respectively.
