Coimbatore: Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has called for a dharna in front of the Sulur Defence Air base on Friday (November 17) protesting against the alleged attempt to impart training to Sri Lankan Air Force personnel. In a release, the General Secretary of the Kazhagam, K. Ramakrishnan, pointed out that the defence forces in the Island nation were on a "killing spree" targeting the Tamil race.
At such a juncture, there were reports about India imparting training to the Sri Lankan defence personnel at a training institution of the Indian Air Force in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, though the official sources at the two Air Force training establishments in Coimbatore remained tight-lipped, sources on conditions of anonymity denied reports any such training.
The police sources also endorsed the same.
