Salem Mayor holds talk with consultants

  • People's requirements should be included in report
  • Modern truck terminal on the anvil

    SALEM: Salem Corporation officials discussed various aspects to be considered while preparing detailed project reports for key infrastructure development programmes with a technical team of the consultancy firm at a meeting held here on Thursday.

    Officials said that the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited appointed Span Consultants (P) Limited, New Delhi, as consultant for preparing the reports for the following projects: Improvement of New Integrated Bus stand, truck terminal, integrated traffic management and development of water bodies.

    The civic officials and Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini explained about the infrastructure requirements of the city to the team members led by J. Rolands Nelson, from the consultancy firm.

    Officials said that the firm would conduct a number of studies and submit the project reports to the Corporation within four months.

    Ms. Priyadarshini said that all the key requirements of the people should be included in the development projects.

    Under the bus stand improvement project, the civic administration had planned to develop multi-level parking and other facilities.

    The consultants would study the present traffic conditions and prepare a design for setting up a modern truck terminal.
