The district administration has promulgated prohibitory orders to prevent clashes between two groups over Mariamman Temple festival in Vachathi village in Dharmapuri district on Tuesday. Differences between the past and present presidents of the village panchayat, over the conduct of the festival, were the reason for the mounting tension in the village for the last few days. A peace meeting was convened by the Harur Revenue Divisional Officer C. Kamaraj on Tuesday, but no solution was found. Therefore, on the basis of the recommendations of the district police, Collector R. Lilly promulgated prohibitory orders.
