MADURAI: Madurai Zonal office of the State Bank of India will conduct a one-week pre-recruitment training from Monday for SC/ST, minority and ex-servicemen candidates who have opted for the programme.

Training will be provided at E.M.G. Yadava Women’s College, Tiruppalai, and Tamil Nadu Polytechnic College, Tirupparankundram Road.

The SBI plans to recruit around 20,000 clerks across country for which 24.20 lakh candidates will take an entrance examination.

In Tamil Nadu alone, 1.65 lakh aspirants are to appear for the examination, scheduled for July 6 and 13.

In Madurai city, around 48,000 will appear for the examination. Around 6,800 candidates are expected to attend the pre-recruitment training programme, which will held in four batches.

The Deputy General Manager of Madurai Module, N. Sadasivam, said that elaborate arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the examination, according to an SBI press release.
