Administration has taken up hands-on measures to ensure smooth conduct of Kandhuri festival scheduled for later this month. The streets of Nagore stand cleared of encroachment by the revenue administration.
Earlier on Wednesday, following up on the civic work taken up by the revenue authorities, Collector T.Munusamy conducted surprise checks.
The safety measure taken up this year is the regulation of pilgrim carts used in the processions. The height and width of pilgrim carts carrying flags shall be strictly regulated this year, taking a cue from the last year’s incident, when two persons were electrocuted after a cart hit a live wire.
Exclusive bathing enclave along with temporary toilets shall be set up facing the dargah pond for the benefit of pilgrims. Further, 78 toilet seats have been renovated in Nagore, with many revamped to be elderly-friendly.
Revenue Divisional Officer V.Manikandan was present during the inspections.
