Under the farmers' protection scheme

The administration has charted out preliminary beneficiary list under the farmers protection scheme of the State government.

The scheme envisages primary membership for welfare protection of farmers fulfilling following criteria.

It includes small and marginal farmers between 18 years and 65 years in possession of not more than 2.5 acres of wetlands, and engaged in agriculture; or small and marginal farmers between 18 years and 65 years in possession of not more than 5 acres of marshlands, and engaged in agriculture; or lessees or wage labourers on farm lands between 18 years and 65 years; or dependent family members with no other form of employment.

The scheme offers assistance including marriage assistance, education assistance, and solatium for death on natural causes, for its members.

According to an administration release, the preliminary list of beneficiaries has been prepared based on field surveys by village administrative officers, and is displayed at the office of the VAOs.

Eligible beneficiaries are called upon to verify whether their names have figured in the list.

Beneficiaries are called upon to seek inclusion of their names or lodge their complaints at the office of the tahsildar, in person or in writing.

Farmers protection scheme provides maroon identity cards for primary members and dependent identity cards in grey for family members.
