Burglars broke into a footwear store on CTH Road, Thirumullaivoyal and escaped with shoes, sunglasses, watches and deodorants.
Thirumullaivoyal police said the burglary took place in the early hours on Wednesday morning.
The shop’s salesmen had left after closing the showroom on Tuesday night. When they arrived the next morning, they found the locks on the shutters broken and over 60 pairs of shoes, 30 sunglasses and 10 watches worth a total of Rs. 2.5 lakh missing.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
Gold, cash stolen
Rs. 2.85 lakh and 17 sovereigns of gold jewellery were allegedly stolen from a scooter belonging to a pawnbroker in Avadi on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the victim Prakash (38) went to a private bank and brought out the gold jewellery.
He placed the jewellery and the cash in a bag in a box underneath his scooter’s seat, and was heading home.
En route, he stopped at a friend’s shop and went in. He returned shortly after to find the scooter’s seat broken and the cash and gold missing. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
