ERODE: Power cut anywhere between 10 and 12 hours a day has hit hard the powerloom industry, says a release from the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council.
It says as labourers are being paid based on working hours, they are getting paid less as there is hardly any work because of power cut.
The release also says that the power cut has also affected garment exporters, who are unable to execute orders in time.
Pointing out that the rupee is falling, the release adds that the textile industry is, however, not able to capitalise on it because of power cut.
It urges the State Government to provide fuel at a subsidised price for running generator sets.
