CHENNAI: Postal operations have been franchised for the first time in the State.

Announcing this in a release here on Thursday, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices (Chennai city-south), N.V. Vedi, said the scheme was launched in Velachery West on Wednesday. Another outlet would be opened soon at Moovarasampet in Madipakkam.

Uses

The franchise outlet could be used for sending articles under the registered letter system and Speed Post, purchasing postal stamps and sending parcels. Those interested in opening such outlets in and around Chennai could apply to the Postmaster General, Chennai City Region. Franchisees would get attractive commission.
