Positive outlook and exploring of potential would ensure a bright future, Collector J. Uma Maheswari told the remand prisoners at the Karur Sub Jail, here on Saturday.

Addressing them after distributing prizes to winners of the painting contest conducted by the District Central Library under its ‘Linkage with Sub-Jail' programme, she appreciated the talent of the inmates in giving a colourful performance. She pointed out that though the shady past continues to haunt many, they should look forward and turn over a new leaf.

“Dispel negative tendencies and look on the bright side in order to get rid of the dark phase of your life,” she told the inmates.

Superintendent of Karur Sub Jail R. Muthusamy, District Library Officer J. Karthikeyan, District Central Librarian S.S. Sivakumar, president of the Readers' Circle C. Balasubramanian and philanthropist Deepam U. Shankar spoke.
