Ignorance about silent killers like diabetes and blood pressure came to the fore at a Homoeopathy Health Camp jointly organized by the Rotary Club of the Nilgiris and a non-governmental organisation Yuvaparivarthan Trust at Yedapalli near Coonoor on Friday.

While over fifty persons were screened, many of them were found to be unaware of their medical condition.

Helen Shanthi who headed the medical team said that most of the patients were illiterate members of self help groups who belonged to the weaker section of the society.

While two of them were found to be suffering from high blood pressure, the blood sugar levels of two others was found to be very high.

They were advised to go for specialized treatment. Homoeopathy medicines were distributed free of cost.

The camp was inaugurated by the Managing Trustee of Yuvaparivarthan Trust Indira Koithara.

President of the Rotary Club of the Nilgiris  J.Javrilal presided.
