CHENNAI: A Sub-Inspector of Police was injured when he tried to intervene and stop a clash between two groups here on Monday night.

Annadurai (57), SI attached to the Virugambakkam police station, was on duty when he saw two groups clashing over a trivial issue in Rathna Nagar. When he tried to intervene, one group assaulted him causing a bleeding injury. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police arrested Saravanan (29), Chellathurai (30), Muthuramalingam (25) and Saravanan (27) of Rathna Nagar in connection with the incident, police sources said.
