A coordination meeting on the ways to enhance security in banks and ATM centres to check robbery was organised by the city police here on Friday. Managers from different banks took part in the meeting which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) S. Ramaiyan.

The security-related measures that needed to be taken including installation of surveillance cameras were put forth by the law enforcers to the bank officials. In all, 99 banks and 147 ATM centres are functioning in the city. Surveillance cameras have been installed in 68 banks and 132 ATM centres. The law enforcers advised the participants to install cameras in the remaining banks and ATM centres within a short period. It was decided that henceforth similar police–bank officials coordination meeting would be held once in three months.
