Anti-socials will be secured
ERODE: The police machinery has been geared up to arrest anti-socials, for peaceful elections. The police have intensified night rounds and those moving about causing suspicion were taken to the police station and their fingerprints collected.
Efforts are on to secure habitual toddy tappers, and prevent distillation and sale of illicit liquor. Armed policemen have begun round-the-clock vigil at checkposts on Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border, to keep an eye on illicit liquor transported from Karnataka.
Meanwhile, municipal officials are removing hoardings and banners on municipal roads. On Monday, they removed a cut-out of Vaiko with Jayalalithaa placed by MDMK candidate of ward 16 E.V.K. Natarajan at his house.
