An inspector and a constable of the Ulsoor Gate police station were arrested on Monday by the Lokayukta on charge of taking bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the owner of a recreational club. The police said that inspector C.V. Deepak had allegedly demanded Rs. 10,000 in cash every month as protection money from D.N. Manjunath, owner of Balaji recreational club. Lokayukta officials caught constable Manjunath near the police station while he was taking money from the club owner. He claimed that he was collecting the amount on behalf of inspector Deepak. Based on his statement, officials detained Deepak.
