Police officers contribute Rs. 2.25 cr. for flood relief

CHENNAI: Senior police officers on Saturday presented cheques for about Rs. 2.25 crore to the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for flood relief.

A.X.Alexander, Director General of Police, gave Rs. 2.23 crore, the amount contributed by officers and employees of the Police department and R. Natraj, Chennai Commissioner of Police and president of the Indian Police Service Officers' Association, presented Rs. 2 lakh, being the contribution of the Association.

Pavan Raina, Home Secretary, and other officers of the department were present on the occasion.

Till now, the contribution to the Chief Minister's public relief fund totalled over Rs. 52.38 crore.
