State Government urged to expedite drinking water project

Krishnagiri: Cadres of the district unit of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) staged a demonstration at the Revenue Divisional Office here on Friday to protest against the attack on Tamils in Karnataka.

They raised slogans against political parties in Karnataka and Kannada outfits for opposing the Hogenakkal drinking water supply scheme. They urged the State Government to initiate efforts to execute the project immediately. The Union Government should intervene in the Hogenakkal issue and protect Tamil Nadu’s rights.

Protection

The Karnataka Government has no rights to interfere in the internal affairs of Tamil Nadu. They raised slogans against Karnataka and sought protection to the lives and properties of Tamils living in various parts of the State.

The implementation of the scheme would benefit a large number of people in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts, they added.

The PMK staged similar protests in Dharmapuri and Hosur towns.

District secretary K.V. Murugan led the protest.
