CHENNAI: PMK leader S. Ramadoss on Sunday urged the State government to explain whether the managements of the self-financing engineering colleges had agreed to surrender 65 per cent of the seats for the government quota as announced by Justice Balasubramanian Committee.

Recalling the Higher Education Department Secretary K. Ganesan’s statement that the government was still holding talks with the managements to get 65 per cent seats, Dr Ramadoss in a release said that Mr. Ganesan’s statement had created confusion among students who had already applied for engineering seats.

“Is there any truth in the announcement of Justice Balasubramanian Committee that the managements had agreed to surrender 65 per cent seats,” he asked.
