Members of Pattali Makkal Katchi staged a demonstration in front of Corporation office here on Monday demanding uninterrupted power supply to industrial clusters and agriculturists in the district. C. Vadivel Gounder, state deputy joint secretary of the party, said due to frequent disruptions in the supply, the production had come down significantly in Tirupur knitwear cluster.

“If the situation continues, the jobs of lakhs of workers employed in the segment will be at stake,” he added.

The party members wanted the state government to enhance the production capacity at the 26 thermal power plants in Tamil Nadu and tap more wind energy, to reduce the power deficit.
