Collector M. Balaji administered pledge to women that they would not show discrimination between male and female children.

Before flagging off a procession taken out by Mahilar Thittam in connection with the International Women's Day here, the Collector administered the pledge. The women vouched that they would provide compulsory higher education to their female children and would not marry them off before 18 years of age. They also vowed to prevent female infanticide and sex selective abortion and other atrocities against women. They women would work for maintaining good relationship with neighbours without any discrimination on the lines of caste and religion.
