CHENNAI: This time around, cricket enthusiasts in Chennai need no longer gnash their teeth and mope around for days. This is because cricket lovers in Chennai had a pleasant surprise on Saturday.

They found that instead of depending on 24/7 news channels or the radio to get the cricket updates, they could watch the second India - Pakistan cricket test live from Faisalabad on their cable TV. The match is being telecast live on Ten Sports channel.

Cricket fans in Chennai are the only group of enthusiasts who could not watch the match on the free-to-air channels.

Ten Sports can be viewed in Chennai only in homes that have a set top box.

No other city in India has to content with the set top box.

But, suddenly this morning, people watching Sun TV saw a scroll that said: "viewers having SCV cable connection in Chennai can enjoy watching the cricket match without a set top box from today."

Immediately, fans tuned in and surfed channels to get Ten Sports.

And then it was a return to the good old days, with fans cheering and egging on their favourite stars.

Later in the day, the State Government introduced a Bill in the Legislature seeking to take over SCV and Hathway cable network, the two multi-system operators in the city.
