Suspension following the death of four children
Continue immunisation programmes under doctors’ supervision
SALEM: The Tamil Nadu Village Health Nurse Association has urged the State Government to revoke the suspension of two nurses in Tiruvallur district.
The nurses were suspended following the death of four children after they were administered measles vaccine. Stating that the nurses were not responsible for the death of the children, association general secretary N. Sagunthala in statement here said that the village health nurses were carrying out immunisation programmes for the past several years without committing any errors.
The association asked the Government to continue the immunisation programmes under the direct supervision of doctors at the primary health centres.
The association also suggested the Government to carry out the health check programme for pregnant women and immunisation for children on the same day.
Along with pregnant women, the children and their mothers could be provided milk and food on the PHC premises.
