A group of Muslims from Pettai here submitted a petition to S. Perumal, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), on Thursday, with an appeal to execute the High Court order on retrieval of Nawab Walajah Mosque properties.

The petitioners said that the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court recently ordered that the mosque properties, worth crores of rupees and under the control of a Hindu for the past several years, should be retrieved and returned to the mosque administration.

The RDO, instead taking action as per the court order, was “intentionally delaying” it, which had given the “opponent” sufficient time to appeal against this verdict, the petitioners said.

“After waging a legal battle for several years, we received this judgment in our favour. Unfortunately, the RDO is refusing to execute the court order and indirectly helping the respondent to obtain a stay. So, he must take action immediately,” they said.

They also submitted petitions at the Office of Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).
