The Panruti Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to the Divisional Railway Manager (Tiruchi division) to make arrangements for halting of all trains that are run on the Villupuram—Mayiladuthurai section at the Panruti railway station.

In a representation sent to the DRM, chamber president S. Shanmugham said that at present only the Cholan Express and the Mayavaram Passenger were making a halt at Panruti.

He noted that the road at the Panruti railway crossing was in a bad shape, posing hardships to commuters. Therefore, he called for proper tar-topping of the road at this point and also providing proper lighting and sanitary facilities in the narrow lane leading to the station.
