CUDDALORE: The citizens of Cuddalore have appealed to the State Government to conduct the next World Tamil Conference here. They hope that, besides contributing to the growth of Tamil language, such a meet will also pave the way for development of the district.

The Federation of All Resident Welfare Associations passed a resolution in this regard at its general body meeting held here on Sunday. According to M. Marudhavanan, the meeting took note of the efforts taken by the State Government for according a prime of place for Tamil. The federation observed that previous editions of the conferences were held in Chennai, Madurai and Thanjavur. After the conference, Thanjavur had registered significant growth in all spheres.

Therefore, it was the expectations of Cuddalore people that organising such an international meet would bring the backward district forward.

It also noted that there were very several Tamil associations in the district that were serving the cause of Tamil and Tamil people. Therefore, Cuddalore would be an ideal place for holding the next World Tamil Conference.
