The annual general meeting of the Moundadan Chetty Community Association was held at Gudalur on Saturday. It marked the completion of 11 years of the association.

M. Narayanan, president of the association, presided. The meeting resolved to urge the government to include the community in the list of scheduled tribes.

It pointed out that it was a small community with a distinct culture. It also resolved to request the government to extend the benefits of the Forest Rights Act to its members. Moundadan Chettis should be made trustees of Nambolakottai Temple and Manguzhi Bhavathi Amman Temple.

The Government Hospital in Gudalur should be modernised. A medical college should be established in Gudalur. C.R. Krishnan, advisor, spoke.
