VELLORE: Members of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary School Vocational Teachers Association, Vellore district on Tuesday met the Joint Director of School Education (Vocational Education) Rajarajeswari and submitted a memorandum to her, pressing their demands.

A delegation comprising K.G. Selvam, State vice-president, M. Nagalingam, Vellore district treasurer and K. Raja, Vellore district media coordinator of the Association, met Ms. Rajarajeswari during her visit to the office of the Chief Educational Officer here on Tuesday.

The demands included issue of regularisation orders to 201 vocational teachers who have not so far been regularised, grant of time scale of pay as per G.O. No.35 to the 88 vocational teachers who have been left out, appointment of vocational teachers as Assistant Headmasters in higher secondary schools and grant of representation to vocational teachers in the appointment of departmental officers and additional departmental officers in the March 2009 public examinations.

The officer-bearers said in a release that the Joint Director assured them that she would take appropriate steps expeditiously on their demands.

At the executive committee meeting of the district association held here under the presidentship of C. Ravivarman, district president on Saturday, the association passed a resolution requesting the Tamil Nadu government to include vocational teachers in the promotion list for appointment to the post of headmasters in high/higher secondary schools. By another resolution, the association demanded the fixation of vocational teachers on the basic pay of Rs.6,500 in the Sixth Pay Commission.
