The Pernambut Consumer Welfare Protection Forum has requested the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to take steps to bifurcate Vellore district and carve out a new district with Tirupattur as headquarters. In a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister, the forum president T. Basheeruddin also pleaded for the creation of a new revenue division having either Ambur or Arakkonam as headquarters after bifurcation of the district.

Since Gudiyatham taluk has a population of more than four lakh, the taluk should be bifurcated and a new taluk created with Pernambut as headquarters, the forum pleaded. The forum pointed out that there were no higher educational institutions in Pernambut though there was a population of more than one lakh. Therefore, the forum urged the Chief Minister to take steps to start engineering, arts and science and polytechnic colleges and other higher education institutions in Pernambut.

Other requests included the bifurcation of the Pernambut panchayat union which is one of the largest panchayat unions in Tamil Nadu and laying a bypass road in Gudiyatham.
